WHAT TO EXPECT DURING TREATMENT:

Because Juvéderm Voluma is a simple, nonsurgical wrinkle treatment, there is minimal recovery or down time.  As with any filler, there is a possibility of bruising.  Patients should take precautionary measures prior to treatment to prevent bruising such as eliminating any blood thinners, (consult with your physician prior to stopping any medication).

WHEN YOU ARRIVE:

If this is your first visit, we will ask about your medical history, including any allergies you may have or medications you take and will explain volume loss treatment with Juvèderm Voluma.

DETERMINING YOUR TREATMENT NEEDS:

Our physicians will examine the soft tissue of your face to assess the depth of wrinkles and folds to determine the best treatment for you. Pre and post-treatment photographs are typically taken.

BEFORE THE PROCEDURE:

Although anesthesia is not required, the physicians may use topical or injectable anesthesia to numb the treatment area.

THE PROCEDURE:

Our physicians will place the Juvèderm Voluma in the cheek area to fill the volume loss.  The procedure is virtually painless.  Your appointment should last around 30 minutes once in the treatment room.

AFTER THE PROCEDURE:

With Juvéderm Voluma there is minimal recovery or downtime. For the first 24 hours following treatment, you should avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sun or heat exposure, and consumption of alcoholic beverages in order to help minimize the risks of temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching at the treatment sites. After the treatment, some temporary injection-related reactions may occur, including redness, pain, firmness, swelling and bumps. Studies have shown these are usually mild to moderate in nature and clear up on their own in 7 days or less. If you experience swelling at the injection site, you can apply ice for a brief period. Makeup may be applied immediately after your treatment.

Returning to the office for your follow-up appointments is essential to ensure the best possible results.
