As you age and your skin incurs the abuse of daily living (such as sun, stress, and pollution), the cell turnover rate slows down. This means that new cells take longer to form and reach the top. The old cells accumulate and stay on the surface longer. You begin to notice those unwelcome signs of aging, including fine lines and wrinkles, freckles and age spots, uneven skin tone, loss of elasticity and loss of natural skin hydration.

The Obagi System, a physician-prescribed skin care system, accelerates the cellular turnover. This System penetrates deep to improve damage in layers of the skin. It boosts functions of the skin at the cellular level to improve skin’s cellular function to help it look and act younger and healthier.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. I can not tolerate Retin A. Can I still use Obagi products?

A. Yes. There are different strengths of Retin A (tretinoin). Most patients will experience a normal sloughing stage when starting Obagi products. However, there are ways of making this stage more manageable.

Q. Can I use Obagi and be exposed to the sun?

A. Yes; however, you must be careful. Using the Obagi system can make you more sensitive. By using a full spectrum SPF and reapplying every few hours you should do just fine.

Q. Can I use Obagi if I am pregnant?

A. Obagi is based on two prescription products, Tretinoin and Hydroquinone that ARE NOT recommended if you are pregnant or nursing.

Q. Will Obagi help with acne?

A. Yes. Obagi has an Acne line, Clenziderm. With 2% salicylic acid and benzolperoxide, Clenizderm has been successfully treating acne for years.

Q. I thought my skin was acclimated to Obagi, but I'm still peeling!

A. Any time you use tretinoin, you will experience a sloughing or peeling stage. Tretinoin works from the inside out to promote cellular turnover. The peeling will subside after continued use. The first three months are where you will see the most peeling and flaking, but the results are well worth it!

Q. Do I have to use the entire Obagi system to see results?

A. It is recommended to start with the full system to achieve the best results.
